Awesome headlamp with one big flaw
I love this headlamp, it is really comfortable and very convenient how it can run on a rechargeable pack or AAA. It comes with a very nice zippered case, too. I took it on a three week camping trip and the rechargeable pack lasted about halfway, when I switched to AAA (which lasted me the rest of the trip without switching again). Do note though that it doesnt gradually grow dimmer as the battery nears depletion--it will just shut off one day, so keep a spare set of batteries nearby on longer trips.
The one real problem, and its kind of a big deal, is that the hinge loosens up quickly, and soon the light will just flop down and shine directly into your eyes. Even when its brand new, its apt to flop down if you really landed hard, so its more suited for camp life than action sports. The hinge on mine became really loose after only a week and I had to hold the light in place with one hand as I walked around camp at night. To UCOs credit, they are sending me a new one under warranty, but Im fearful it will end up the same way. Some more friction need to be permanently added to the hinge somehow.
